CM Distributes High Yielding Seeds to Farmers

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at a function organized at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Friday, distributed High Yielding Variety (HYV) of seeds to farmers chosen from thousands of villages in Bihar while also presenting the state's agricultural road map to improve the agricultural sector in the state.Kumar, while praising his administration's effort to improve the conditions of Bihar farmers by the recent introduction of a number of schemes, said that the planters would soon be given power tillers instead of tractors because of the tillers unique ability to operate in diverse topographical conditions.He also announced a grant of Rs. 1,000 per acre to the producers of potato and onion."Initially we will concentrate on providing power tillers to the farmers; later we would make arrangements for water sprinklers, the Chief Minister said.Seeds to other farmers in their districts would begin in a matter of days, officials said.On the occasion, the Chief Minister also gave out booklets of Bihar's Agricultural Road Map to the guests. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Agriculture Minister Renu Kushwaha, Cooperative Minister Giriraj Singh, Energy Minister Ramashray Prasad Singh, Water Resources Minister Vijendra Yadav, legislators Gyanendra Singh Gyanu, and Poonam Devi were among many who also spoke on the occasion.
